2026 General Election Voting Information

All of the information on this page is from the Minnesota Secretary of State's Elections & Voting website which is found at https://mnvotes.gov. Information on that site is comprehensive, exhaustive, and a little bit difficult to navigate. This page distills down the information specific to Senate District 45. Election Day Voting

The general election for 2026 will be held on Tuesday, November 3 with voting hours from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Individual polling locations will not close until all people in line before 8 p.m have voted. Election day voter registration is legal in Minnesota. Documents needed for voter registration are listed here. You're polling location and sample ballot are found here.

Early and Absentee Voting

Ballots are available starting 46 days before the election.

• Ballots available for in person and mail voting: Friday, September 18. Instructions for voting by mail are found here.

• Start of Early Voting: Friday, October 16

• Last day to vote early in person: Monday, November 2

• Ballots must be received by: Tuesday, November 3

Early In Person Voting

Depending on the timing and location, there are different ways to vote in person before Election Day.

IN PERSON ABSENTEE (begins September 18)

This is identical to getting an absentee ballot mailed to you, except done in person. You will need to know your Minnesota ID number or SSN to fill out the application.

• You will fill out an absentee application

• You will get a ballot and vote there

• After completing the ballot, you will return it to the election official

• The completed ballot will go into an envelope

• A ballot board will review the envelope later

EARLY VOTING (begins October 16)

"Early Voting" will be available for the first time in 2026. This is more similar to voting in a polling place on Election Day, and starts 18 days before the election. Early Voting is the process that allows a voter to cast their ballot directly into a ballot counter before Election Day.

• You will complete a short certificate

• You will receive a ballot and complete it there

• After completing the ballot, you will insert it in a ballot counter

Locations for early in person voting are not the same as election day polling locations. The list below covers early voting locations for Senate District 45 only.

Absentee voting will begin on September 18 (Fri). Unless noted otherwise locations will be:

• Open during the stated days/times starting September 18 (Fri). Some locations, as noted below, do not open until October 16 meaning they do not support in person absentee voting.

• Open these extended hours:

  • Open 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. on October 24 (Sat)

  • Open until 7:00 p.m. on October 27 (Tue)

  • Open 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. on October 31 (Sat)

  • Open 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. on November 1 (Sun)

  • Open until 5:00 p.m. on November 2 (Mon)

• Using early voting starting October 16 (Fri)
